Marcus Aurelius was Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD. He was also a student, a philosopher, and a man who held himself accountable to a standard most people never attempt. Every day he wrote to himself, not for publication, not for posterity, but because he needed the reminder. Meditations wasn't meant to be a book. It was a man doing the work on himself in private.
"You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength."
