The History behind the design
In 1129, Bernard of Clairvaux wrote the document that changed the medieval world. De Laude Novae Militiae, In Praise of the New Knighthood. He was answering a question that had troubled the Church for centuries: could a man be both warrior and servant of God?
His answer was yes. Not despite the contradiction, because of it. The sword wielded in service of something sacred wasn't violence. It was sacrifice. The man who stands between the innocent and what threatens them isn't a killer. He's a guardian.
The Knights Templar took that calling and built their entire existence around it. They were among the most feared fighting forces in the medieval world. They also knelt before God every morning before they fought. The two things were not in conflict. They were the same thing.
Militum Christi. Soldiers of Christ. Not a title. A calling.
The cross on this shield isn't decoration. It's the mark of a man who has decided that what he protects matters more than his own comfort. That was true in 1129. It hasn't changed.
