The History behind the design
The flag has been through something. So has the man wearing it.
Horace wrote these words in 23 BC, Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori. It is sweet and honorable to die for one's country. For two thousand years, soldiers have carried that line into battle. Greeks said it. Romans believed it. Continental soldiers bled for it on frozen ground at Valley Forge. Young men whispered it crossing beaches in Normandy. It has been true in every language, in every century, on every field where free men decided that some things are worth dying for.
Some of those men came home. Some didn't. The ones who came home carried the ones who didn't, in memory, in silence, in the way they lived the rest of their lives without ever fully explaining why.
The flag is tattered because freedom isn't clean. It has edges that fray and corners that don't survive intact. It gets torn by the same storms it flies through. And yet it flies. Not because it's invincible, because men keep raising it.
This shirt doesn't glorify war. It remembers the cost. And it honors the men who paid it without asking whether anyone would notice.
Wear it for the ones who didn't come home.
