The History behind the design
In 625 AD, a king was buried in a ship beneath the soil of Suffolk. With him went his sword, his armor, his gold, and this helmet.
The Sutton Hoo helmet has stared out from behind glass in the British Museum for decades. Every man who stands in front of it feels something he can't quite name. It isn't admiration. It's recognition.
These were not primitive men. The Anglo-Saxons built legal systems that became the foundation of English common law. They illuminated manuscripts that survive a thousand years later. They forged iron with a sophistication that wouldn't be matched for centuries. They wrote Beowulf, a poem about a warrior who faced monsters not because he had to, but because someone had to and he decided that someone was him.
Lof sceal lifgan. Glory shall live.
It was the Saxon warrior's only immortality, the reputation earned in life, carried forward by those who came after.
The helmet endures. The code endures. The iron endures.
