The History behind the design
Rome had generals. Rome had senators. Rome had men who were clever, ambitious, and careful.
Sulla was none of those things. He was the man who marched his own army on Rome, rewrote the constitution at sword point, and then, when he had absolute power over the most powerful city in the world, walked away from it. Retired. Went home.
He wrote his own epitaph before he died. Not a list of victories. Not a monument to his campaigns. One sentence that contained everything worth knowing about how he moved through the world:
No friend ever served me, and no enemy ever wronged me, whom I have not repaid in full.
That isn't a boast. It's a standard. A complete accounting of how a man operates, with his allies and his enemies alike. Total loyalty returned. Total accountability enforced. Nothing left unsettled.
Most men talk about loyalty. Sulla made it his epitaph.
The man who wears this shirt understands the standard. He holds his friendships seriously and his debts seriously. He doesn't forget either.
No friend ever served me. No enemy ever wronged me. Whom I have not repaid in full.
