The History behind the design
The Stoics didn't invent the four cardinal virtues. They inherited them from Plato, sharpened them through centuries of philosophy, and tested them in places where failure wasn't theoretical.
Courage. Justice. Temperance. Wisdom.
Leonidas understood courage the morning he sent his allies home and kept three hundred. Marcus Aurelius pursued justice from the most powerful throne in the world, in private, with no audience. Washington practiced temperance when the army wanted to make him king and he said no. Solomon asked for wisdom when he could have asked for anything, and received it, and still struggled to live by it.
These weren't perfect men. They were men who chose a standard and held it as long as they could. That's the whole point. The virtues aren't a destination. They're a direction.
Four medallions. Four men. One framework that has outlasted every empire built without it.
